Background

Bespoke Construction Services is an award-winning company based in Shropshire. Established more than 20 years ago, the company offers nationwide construction services to a host of different industry sectors and specialises in interior fit out, refurbishment and residential new build/conversion projects.

The company’s latest project, a joint venture with Investin PLC, is Sapphire Court in Solihull. The former office development, which used to house HMRC among other businesses, has been imaginatively transformed into a modern living complex. The recently completed first phase of the redevelopment comprises 82 private apartments with a mixture of Studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom dwellings.
Phase 2, now underway, includes nine luxurious newbuild three- and four-bedroom houses. The third and final phase will see the conversion of the remaining office space into approximately 100 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments.

During the specification stage of the Sapphire Court design and build project, Bristan’s luxurious designer ranges of taps and showers were the gem Bespoke Construction were looking for to make the bathrooms shine. 

Building Relationships

James Cook, Procurement Manager at Bespoke Construction, was keen to specify Bristan products for the bathrooms and ensuites in this major project, as Bristan was a partner they had worked with many times before and who they trusted to deliver:
“At Bespoke, we believe in collaborative working. That approach not only extends to our clients and partners, but everybody we deal with including our sub-contractors and supply chain. This is certainly how we look upon our working relationship with Bristan”, says James.
“We’ve worked closely with Bristan for several years now, specifying and fitting various ranges of their bathroom taps and shower systems on a number of different design and build schemes, all of which have been individually suited/tailored to each project’s budget, client preferences and build requirements.”

Product Selection

The exact products chosen for the Sapphire Court development were chosen collaboratively with Bristan after the client’s design brief and aesthetical aspirations were given to Bespoke Construction.

James adds: “A number of different product proposals and samples were offered by the Bristan Specification Team, but it was the Hourglass range which really captured our attention – at the time it was brand new to market. Our client was delighted with this idea, resulting in a seamless and successful product selection and specification process.”

The feminine curves of the Hourglass collection make a style statement that looks equally at home in either a traditional or contemporary bathroom setting. Finished in luminance chrome, the taps feature long life ceramic disc valves which are smooth to operate and come with a five-year guarantee for added peace of mind that they have been built to last. The Hourglass taps can be used for pressures of 0.2 to 5 bar and are lever operated, making them suitable for the whole family.

Peace of Mind

James continues: “First and foremost, Bristan offers a great product. The manufacturing quality, as well as the aesthetical finishes are excellent. The vast array of choice within Bristan’s overall product catalogue enables us to cater to all budgets, styles and performance needs.
“But coupled with this is Bristan’s service, which comparably equals their product. It extends to all levels of service including contractual support, technical back-up, spare part availability and specification assistance/expertise, as and when required. All of which we’ve called and relied upon.”

Like Bespoke Construction, Bristan is also a company which believes in the benefits of working in close collaboration to ensure major development project wheels always turn smoothly. On the Sapphire Court project, Bristan’s appointed specification manager worked closely with Bespoke Construction on job programme dates and supply demands to ensure stock would be available throughout the mechanical install period.

Bristan also worked alongside the projects’ dedicated local merchants – Farr & Harris – who carefully managed stock levels and ensured products were dispatched to site on time.
